Dubai, UAE: Dar Al Ber Society (DABS), committed to the Holy Quran, has managed to attract and register 323 young memorisers in its pioneering ‘Quran Memorisation’ project.
Official records show that the program, awarded 44 times by different entities last year, saw 76 new students over the same period added to 247 male Quran memorisers already registered.
The memorisers stole the show from their counterparts and were honoured by the Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Quran Contest, Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Quran Contest, the National Memoriser Contest, Quran Memorisation Contest, Rashid Al Mualla Quran Contest, and Sharjah Quran and Sunnah Contest.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, said up to 247 male students, including 114 UAE nationals, were enrolled in the project. “Up to 76 students were registered last year.”
Three specialised Quran memorisation classes were organised last year too, he stated. “These are added to an efficient partnership with three private schools in terms of Quran memorisation.”
Three students of the ‘Ber’ Quran Project’ graduated after successfully memorising the Quran in full. “Up to 22 of our students have so far managed to fully memorise the Quran.”
The ‘Ber Quran Project’ comprises two programs, he elaborated. “One is the ‘Smart Muhafez’ or ‘Quran Teacher’ that helps memorisation via smart phone, and ‘Ahlul Quran’ or ‘Quran People’ for teaching proper recitation on Noor Dubai radio during the holy month of Ramadan.
Khalid Mohammed Sultan Alolama, the project manager, said the male section organised six courses for memorising the Quran last year. “We also ran nine different Quran competitions, in which 169 students chipped in, and held 31 diverse Quran activities as well.”
