Dubai, UAE: Dar Al Der Society, dedicated to vulnerable and deprived people everywhere, successfully carried out 81,468 water projects, worth Dh175,371,869, around the globe in 38 years.

Official records show that the leading charity association, based in Dubai, spent Dh94.7 million on 52,998 water projects over the period from 1979 to 2012, added to 7,240 similar projects in 2015 against Dh15,909,000.

These are in comparison to 8,166 water projects, worth Dh20,363,818, done in 2014, as well as 6,164 projects, valued at Dh21,835,158, in 2015, and 6,900 projects carried out last year against Dh22,563,893, according to a top official.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, said the Society water projects did reflect the exemplary vision of the UAE prudent leadership in all charitable and humanitarian walks of life.

“These show how responsive our leadership is to disadvantaged people and how civilized and humanitarian the UAE is as always urged by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan whose support to charity works covers the entire world.”

Dar Al Ber is all set to mark the International Water Day, which falls on March 22 every year, by spotlighting an array of outstanding water projects accomplished around the world over the last years, he added.

“The Society has dug a big number of water wells and built so many water reservoirs for providing water to people, animals, plants, and other critical civil uses everywhere.”

Al Falasi said the DABS water projects were carried out in almost all deprived areas and regions across several continents and countries. “Different types of water wells, whether manual, normal, deep, pump-operated, or bucket-based with medium depth and reservoirs with capacities of 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,000 gallons, were dug and built.”

On top of Dar Al Ber water projects is the ‘Water Suqia’ or ‘Water Aid’ project, he pointed out. “This important scheme has helped deliver pure drinking water to thousands of poor people wherever they are.”
