Al Falasi: 3,444 charity projects organised under these drives

Dubai, UAE: Dar Al Ber Society has run 16 new humanitarian and charitable initiatives abroad in the first quarter of the year 2017.

These included 282 mosques, 114 initiatives for serving mosques worldwide, 88 schemes for distributing copies of the Holy Quran, digging and building 1,743 water wells and reservoirs, 407 allowances for productive families, and 204 endowment projects.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, said the 'external' initiatives spanned a wide range of areas and regions across the globe.

"These included 24 water aids drives, 145 medical projects, 12 students sponsorships, and six initiatives for sponsoring Quran and Sunnah teachers."

Dar Al Ber Society has launched 42 emergency relief campaigns in different countries in the first quarter of this year, he added. "These were financed from the Zakat program."

These are apart from 187 emergency relief aids based on the general charity program against 150 general relief drives, 17 emergency food initiatives, four drives for supporting the Children Cancer Hospital in Egypt, and 19 diverse charity projects."

Abdulkarim Jaafar Al Hassan, Project Manager with Dar Al Ber Society, said they managed to run up to 3,444 charity projects under the 16 pioneering philanthropic initiatives launched in the first quarter of the year. "The total revenues of these projects amounted to Dh34,350,878."
