Ajman, UAE: As many as 641 students from government, private, Arabic and foreign language schools here in the emirate of Ajman, have cleared the initial qualifying tests of the 7th Dar Al Ber Quran and Sunnah Award.

The annual competition, organised by Dar Al Ber branch in Ajman in collaboration with the education zone here, has seen 1,500 male and female participants, according to Khalid Abdulwahhab Al Khajah, manager of Ajman branch, and chairman of the Award supreme organising committee.

“Up to 641 students out of 1,500 passed the initial tests which started early this month, and are to sit the final tests scheduled to conclude at the at the centre of the culture, youth and community development ministry in Ajman on May 11.”

The Award is meant to build up a new generation based on the tolerant and moderate teachings and principles of Islam, he said. “It will hopefully help the students make good use of the free time as well.”

Earlier, the organising committee met with the male and female arbitrators and scholars to enlighten them about the tests and standards adopted to cope with students’ levels.

“There are four arbitrations committees for both male and female sections,” he added. “The aspirant participants have shown an excellent performance, and are so keen to take part in the Award every year.”

Al Khajah then paid tributes to the members of the organising committee, volunteers and all units of the award for their tireless effort. “They have really done a great job.”
